Experts and policy makers in forest location and landscape design will be the keynote speakers at a conference organised by COFORD at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Co Offaly on May 23.
“Forest Planning – Policy and Practice” will be the theme of the conference which will examine the future development of forestry and landscape in Ireland.
The organisers say a number of factors, such as environmental designations, landscape considerations, site suitability and the ability to generate a commercial return, constrain forest location, type and design.
The challenge, they say, is to work within these constraints to achieve the increase in forest that is foreseen by government policy, while ensuring that new forests and forest practices sit well with good landscape design and land-use planning.
