A bespoke kitchen and bedroom furniture manufacturer says it has eliminated a serious bottleneck in production by upgrading from manual finish sanding to a throughfeed sander.
Cumbria Kitchen & Bedroom Furniture, of Carlisle, bought the Spanish-made Orbilak RO-900-SX sander to replace the laborious manual sanding of profiled components and raised and fielded panels.
The machine, which is doing the work of two manual sanders, is finishing products as diverse as door and drawer fronts, pelmets, cornices and moulded shapes.
The four-head sander includes SlipCon replaceable sanding strips on spiral hubs. Each head uses different grits, arranged in counter rotating pairs.
Orbilak throughfeed sanders retail from £19,000-40,000.
