The Trussed Rafter Association (TRA) is experiencing fast-growing levels of interest in its activities from a wide audience.

TRA secretary Peter Grimsdale said: “Last year we received between 5-6,000 enquiries and this year we have already received more than 2,500 from architects, specifiers, builders, local authorities and others such as self-builders.

“And our website, from which information is downloadable, has gone out of all proportion too – it has received nearly 3,000 hits already this year.”

Demand for information has been so high that the TRA has updated and reprinted its introductory guide to trussed rafters. The latest edition highlights the role of the association, the extensive use of trussed rafters in the construction industry and the latest developments in trussed rafter construction.

A section on the benefits of trussed rafters outlining their economic and environmental impact is also included.

Mr Grimsdale puts much of the growing interest down to the TRA’s higher profile in the construction industry. He said: “As you get your name around people start to take you more seriously.

“We are also producing more informative information through our data sheets. The latest one dealing with the bracing of room in the roof trussed rafters generated around 1,000 enquiries alone.”
