An I-joist hanger developed by Cullen Building Products has been hailed as “probably the most significant innovation in hanger development since the industry began” by engineering consultant Dr Luke Whale of TimberSolve.
The UI Connector eliminates the need for backer blocks when fitting engineered I-joist floors, so solving the acknowledged problem of missing or badly fitted backer blocks on site.
It has already been specified by Boise Building Products, the European arm of I-beam manufacturer Boise Cascade Corporation.
Boise’s technical support manager in the UK, Andy McShane, said: “Our decision to specify the Cullen UI Connector in future floor assemblies is part of our drive for constant product improvement. By using the UI hanger we can be confident that the quality of our products and their performance will be enhanced by simplifying the installation process for our customers.”
