Associated British Ports‘ (ABP) Port of Ipswich handled 32,500m3 of timber from the Baltic states, Sweden and Finland during April – a new record for a single month.

Port manager Robert Smith said: “We are always looking to increase trade, so it is very satisfying to see imports of timber products thriving at the port. Most of this cargo is for customers based on our West Bank Terminal, where they can also benefit from ABP’s state-of-the-art timber treatment centre.”

The Ipswich timber treatment centre has recently been converted to use Tanalith E, a chrome and arsenic free preservative.
