Hamburg-based Rickmers-Linie has christened the sixth of nine new Superflex Heavy Multi-Purpose Container vessels it is having built in China.

The vessel was officially named Rickmers Antwerp in her namesake city of Antwerp on June 16.

The vessel is now operating within the company’s newly launched Pearl String Service which offers sailings at fixed 14-day intervals while retaining the flexibility to call at intermediate ports.

The ships are self-sustaining having been fitted with four large cranes, and the main hatches are 32m long allowing long loads to be accommodated below deck.
