David Aitken, finance director of Scottish Woodlands Ltd, has died after a short illness.
He joined Scottish Woodlands Ltd in 1987 soon after the management buyout of the former organisation, SWOAC Ltd. In addition, he was company secretary.
Mr Aitken was born in Edinburgh and educated at Bo’ness Academy. He qualified as a CA after initial experience with Geoghegan and Co, in Edinburgh, and with Inveresk Paper Co Ltd, Bathgate. He then moved to Otis Elevators plc as a financial planning manager and subsequently to a subsidiary, Wadsworth Becker Lifts Ltd, as finance director. He joined Scottish Woodlands from a design and construction consultancy based in Cheshire where he had been finance manager and company secretary. In recent years he was active in the e-commerce group of the Scottish Forest Industries Cluster.
Mr Aitken is survived by his wife and two sons.
