A complex design employing unusual diamond shaped projections was designed and manufactured by Scotts of Thrapston for a bungalow in Northamptonshire.
The property had an internal area of 3,350ft2 and the large open plan accommodation involved considerable spans. As the roof was to be covered with plain tiles, a minimum pitch of 35? was required.
Scotts of Thrapston, a member of the Trussed Rafter Association, developed a design which broke the roof into smaller manageable elements. The roof structure required more than 100 trusses of 13 different types designed using the Wolf System.
Chris Sale, a partner with architect Rider Sale Associates, said: “Trussed rafters really were the ideal solution for this particular property because of the long spans involved and the intricate nature of the roof.”
