Laserfix, a major supplier of screws and timber fasteners to the UK merchant trade, says it is on course for its most profitable year to date.
The Wirral-based company’s overall sales for the first six months of 2003 were up 7% on last year. Sales of chipboard screws increased by 41%, cup square hex bolts rose by 56% and pre-packed nails jumped by 28%.
Managing director Brendon Kenny said the results followed a management buyout at the end of 2002, strategic staff appointments to penetrate the screw market place and a “mammoth” sales month in May.
He said: “Not only are these figures good news for us, they’re good news for our customers as well, indicating a buoyant market in the merchant trade.”
