Making the best use of space available was a key priority when Frame UK decided to reorganise its timber engineering section.

Paul Homer, general manager of the Exeter-based production facility, said: “Our existing saw was a very bulky affair that we had been using for many years.

“Reorganising timber engineering was the obvious time to install a more compact tool, but it needed to be one that would cope with our high usage levels while maintaining high quality standards. Naturally I also had my eye on the overall cost of the reorganisation, so price was a serious consideration.”

Following careful assessment of the machinery available, Mr Homer ordered a KoolKut KK12 from Sagetech Industries in Silchester, near Reading.

Priced at under £3,000, the KK12 can handle sheet sizes of up to 2.5×1.25m but requires floor space of just 85cmx3.1m when floor mounted and 66cmx3.1m when wall mounted.

The KK12 has proved as robust as it is compact, handling 100 sheets of hardboard, plywood and specialised sheet materials each week.
