A chart to help managers identify high risk manual handling jobs has been drawn up by the Health and Safety Executive.
The Manual Handling Assessment Chart, viewable on www.hse.gov.uk/msd/mac, is designed to make easy and accurate assessments of lifting, carrying and team handling operations. It helps employers identify risk factors and record risk ratings.
Up-to-date information on musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) and repetitive strain injury are also included, as well as practical tips to reducing MSD.
