Wadkin UltraCare Ltd has bought the assets of Sowerby Bridge-based Ryburn Fell and Brookman for an undisclosed sum.

Managing director Peter Smith said the move was part of Wadkin Ultracare’s strategy to grow its service and support operations.

He added: “It will also add volume to the manufacturing side of our business. We have the skills to build woodworking machines and these models will broaden and strengthen the range.”

Ryburn Fell and Brookman manufactures stair trenchers, dove tailers and lathes and this work will now be undertaken by Leicester-based Wadkin UltraCare.

Since its inception two and a half years ago, Wadkin UltraCare has adopted a one-stop shop philosophy with the aim of developing a machine offer across the complete price spectrum of moulders. It is already associated with US machine tool manufacturer KOMO Industries for supply and support of their range of CNC routers.

Mr Smith said the foremost purpose is to be a service-based company. “This acquisition has been made to ensure we can support both our existing customer base who operate Ryburn Fell and Brookman machinery and also users who are not currently amongst the growing number of clients who depend upon our total ServiceCare and PremiumCare packages.”

He said the acquisition would ensure that the range of machinery and spares for all brands would remain available for the future.
