A push to kick-start the London and Home Counties Committee of the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society back into action is under way.

The committee is conscious that in recent years it has become inactive and members have decided to try and encourage fresh blood to join.

A special meeting is to be held at the East India Club, 16 St James Square, London on Friday October 24 at 11.15am.

Committee member Keith Davies said the object was to explain the role of the committee and what it did. He hoped members of the trade would either join themselves or encourage a member or retired member of staff to participate.

The committee meets four times a year and needs volunteers to help support existing beneficiaries and come up with advice regarding future applications by former timber trade employees.
