Mill workers in the British Colombian coastal region have issued a strike notice and could withdraw their labour any time in the next three months, reports the latest Random Lengths bulletin.
The Industrial, Wood and Allied Wokers of Canada union has reached a settlement on behalf of its members with BC southern interior mills and negotiations continue with northern interior and coastal employers.
However, although talks are continuing, the coastal workers have voted to strike if their demands are not met. The strike vote also means that, if they wish, the mills could lock them out.
