A federal judge has extended the ban on logging six old growth timber plots, writes The Associated Press, ruling that the US Forest Service is in violation of environmental laws.
US district judge found that the Forest Service failed to survey for the rare plants and animals that depend on this type of forest to survive.
The ruling applies to two plots on the Mount Hood National Forest and four on the Willamette National Forest.
