An Isle of Wight-based corporate furniture manufacturer has invested £81,500 in production machinery to improve its veneered work and free up skilled labour.

Corporate Furniture & Interiors bought a Baioni single daylight press, a Casati veneer guillotine and a Viet Challenge 323 wide belt sander for its workshops in Ryde.

The machinery, purchased through Trymwood Machinery Sales, is helping with preparation of veneers, lamination, the pre-preparation of substrates and finishing of veneered panels.

The company wanted to upgrade veneer slicing capability to cope with longer lengths, increase the footprint area of the press and find a state-of-the-art solution for board calibration and subsequent finishing of veneered-faced boards in a single machine.

The Viet, which gives the firm the option of denibbing of lacquered surfaces, has a 1350mm working width and a variable working height of between 3mm-160mm. Feed speed is variable between 3.7m/min- 20.5m/min.

Corporate Furniture & Interiors is experiencing growing repeat business from design houses in London and the Home Counties, as well as independent architects, specifiers and private customers.
