Forty Travis Perkins branches are the latest to be covered by BM TRADA-Trak Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Pan European Forest Certification (PEFC) chain of custody certification.

Ian Goldsmith, Travis Perkins’ group planning director, said: “The company sought FSC and PEFC chain of custody certification because it is the ethically right path for a responsible organisation to take, and feedback from customers has shown that a growing proportion prefer to buy timber sourced from well managed forests.

“Furthermore, government policy appears to be heading towards demanding certified products. As part of our commitment to a responsibly managed timber resource, we will continue to increase our range of certified products in the future.”

Alasdair McGregor, who carried out the chain of custody assessment for BM TRADA Certification Ltd said Travis Perkins’ achievement is a huge step forward in terms of availability of FSC and PEFC products.
