Information and advice on all aspects of workplace transport safety is now available from a new centre set up jointly by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Freight Transport Association (FTA).

The initiative will run initially for 12 months as part of a project to identify areas of most concern to those using and involved with workplace transport, and to help HSE target resources more accurately.

The FTA said workplace transport is the second biggest cause of fatalities in the British workplace, with the majority of incidents falling into four categories – vehicle strikes, overturns, falling people and falling objects.

Vehicle operators, drivers and those responsible for site safety can contact FTA transport advisers on 0870 099 0099 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
