Forestry Commission Wales has appointed Geraint George, an expert in countryside management, to the national committee for Wales, which advises Forestry Commission Wales on economic, environmental and social issues.
Mr George was previously course director of postgraduate Diploma/Masters in Countryside Management at the University College of Wales, Bangor.
His main role as a non-executive member of the national committee will be to assist in assessing social, community and environmental interests in Wales and advise how forestry could help to address these issues.
Simon Hewitt, director Forestry Commission Wales and GB executive commissioner, said: “Geraint has previous experience of committee work as a member of the Snowdonia National Park Authority, and we believe that he will make a significant contribution to the strategic thinking of the committee.”
