Importers, sawmillers, merchants and others connected to the timber trade were welcomed to the event by Club president Colin Drayson, sales manager at MDM Timber, and entertained by former hotel industry executive Peter Hancock, who was CEO of Pride of Britain Hotels for 21 years.
A collection raised several thousand pounds for charity.
The Club committee chose the new venue due to high ticket demand. Usually the event is held at the Clermont Hotel next to Charing Cross Station. The London Softwood Club has been meeting regularly since 1948.
