Cambridgeshire-based beech agent Trunkstyle Ltd has achieved Pan European Forest Certification (PEFC) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) registration with BM TRADA Certification Ltd.

The company, which sells to importers around the country, specialises in steamed and unsteamed European beech for joinery, turnery and furniture use.

Managing director Roy Rogers said Trunkstyle’s supplier, Sägewerk Bachmann GmbH, has both PEFC and FSC certification. He added: “In most cases we ship direct from Bachmann to customers, thereby maintaining chain of custody. However, with two landed stock operations of our own, we felt it important to complete the chain by achieving certification ourselves for all sales of beech with the BaRo (Bachmann) label.”

Mr Rogers believes more customers will request PEFC and FSC-approved timber and hopes more will go down the certification route themselves to extend the chain further.
