Weyerhaeuser Co’s lumber mill in Grande Cache, Alberta is to be closed as the company says it is uncompetitive.
The mill’s small size and high costs plus a shortage of timber have been blamed for the decision which will affect more than 150 jobs.
Attempts to sell the mill, which produced about 130 mbf of lumber a year, have failed.
