Hamilton-based Larner Recycling has invested in its fifth shredder in three years from Doppstadt (UK) Ltd.
The AK 600 high-speed hammermill shredder, which costs around £225,000, will initially process around 700 tonnes of wood waste a week, but will give Larner capacity to handle more than 1,400 tonnes a week in the future.
Larner Recycling operates two wood recycling facilities in Enfield and Wellingborough, producing woodchip for the panelboard manufacturing industry and animal bedding.
The latest Doppstadt 571hp machine can process up to 40 tonnes of woodwaste per hour and will help the company to handle a growing volume of woodwaste.
Managing director David McEwan said: “We anticipate that there will be at least a steady increase in wood recycling over the next four to five years, and the AK600 will give us the extra capacity we need to expand accordingly.”
Features of the AK600 include a drive engine which is separate from the shredding unit allowing easy access for servicing, a load sensing device and an hydraulic sensor which sifts out contaminated material.
