More than 90 windows at a Grade I listed residential property facing Regents Park have been restored or replicated by Enfield-based Original Windows.

Some of the sliding sashes at numbers two, three and four Cumberland Place, credited to architect John Nash, were up to 4m in height.

Original Windows, a member of the British Woodworking Federation, said the building’s listed status demanded sensitivity and attention to detail, with work having to meet the full requirements of Crown Estate specifications.

It reproduced about 25 of the century-old box frames, following exactly the glazing pattern and sections of those being replaced. Three had to be bowed to the curvature of the building.

The company used large quantities of crown glass rather than modern float glass to ensure irregularity of reflection and slight distortion of light which gives an authentic appearance.
