Major companies in the construction products sector have asked the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) to stop reverse auction bidding.
The Construction Products Association (CPA) Council asked for the action the day before the OGC announced it had identified five suppliers which would form its new Framework Agreement designed to supply electronic reverse auction services for the public sector.
CPA chief executive Michael Ankers said: “The council was unanimous in its decision that reverse auction bidding would not deliver best value to clients and clearly runs counter to messages in ‘Accelerating Change’ and to the OGC’s own ‘Achieving Excellence’ guides.”
