Roof truss manufacturer Pace Timber Engineering of Milton Keynes has struck a deal to manufacture the Posi-Joist engineered floor system under licence to MiTek Industries Ltd.

Production will start next month at Bleak Hall, Milton Keynes where parent company Pace Timber Systems recently bought the entire 2.5-acre site and factories.

Pace Timber Engineering formerly occupied 50% of the site and the acquisition of the other half will create space to produce the floor joists and enable the company to expand its roof truss output by a projected 25% this year.

Since Pace Timber Engineering was bought by Pace Timber Systems a year ago it has seen turnover increase by 20%.

Pace Timber Engineering general manager Phil Hart said the move into floor joist production was prompted by a large percentage of the company’s customer base expressing an interest in it expanding its engineered timber product offering, and in particular the Posi-Strut joist system.

He said: “We will be looking to manufacture some 1000 linear metres per week almost from the outset.”

The Posi-Joist system is suitable for both floors and roofs and can be used in domestic, commercial and industrial applications.
