The challenges and opportunities of forest certification will be explored at the next Certification Watch conference in Vancouver.

The April 1-2 event, “The Frontiers of Forest Certification”, will gather senior corporate executives, governmental officials and experts in sustainable forest management, certification and procurement.

Panel discussions will focus on how best to reap the economic, social and environmental benefits of certification; how to link state/provincial forest policy with certification; furthering certification in the boreal forests; and implementing responsible forest products procurement policies. An update will also be given on North American certification programmes.

The conference, run in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ 17th Global Forest Industry conference, is preceded by a field tour of forestry and processing operations on March 28-30, plus a certification training workshop on March 31.
