Pallet manufacturer Scott Timber Group has sold premises at Grays, gained through last year’s £5m acquisition of Combine Pallets.

Operations and staff have all transferred to nearby Northfleet where the group runs an on-site operation for cement manufacturer Lafarge which contracts Rosyth-based Scott to produce 900,000 pallets a year.

Managing director John Scott said: “Our site at Grays presented us with very few possibilities going forward due to its location in a built-up area. The site at Northfleet is consolidated in one large factory, rather than the five separate structures at Grays. This will allow greater production control, resulting in a number of efficiency gains.”

The Grays site has been sold to a property developer for an undisclosed sum.
