The laminate flooring industries in Europe and North America are strengthening their ties following discussions at the Surfaces 2004 show in Las Vegas.

The European Laminate Flooring Association (EPLF) and its US counterpart, the North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA), held talks during the Jan 29-31 exhibition and will now exchange marketing statistics so global sales can be analysed and marketing activities improved. ISO standards will also be a subject for further discussion.

NALFA chairman Bill Dearing, of Pergo USA, will be special guest at the next EPLF meeting in Aalen, Germany, during May.

Meanwhile, Bielefeld-based EPLF will take part in the European Laminate Congress and Workshop in Berlin on April 19-22. The association’s managing director Peter Meyer will speak on “The EPLF – targets, tasks and future perspectives”.

The three-day congress gathers experts from across the world to discuss business trends and the development of laminate flooring.
