The largest Homag BAZ CNC stationary processor to be ordered in the UK will be installed by Starbank Panel Products Ltd as the centrepiece of a £600,000 investment.
The 700 series machine, due for commissioning in May, will be installed in a new bay at the company’s 60,000ft2 factory in Warrington.
Philip Darbyshire, Starbank’s production director, said the BAZ will help grow capacity in the area of producing and edging shaped components for the office furniture and other special contract markets.
The BAZ is a gantry-head designed unit with two individual clamping tables for enabling the multi-tool heads to work in tandem or individually. Tables have been specified for allowing extra large panels to be processed.
Other machines already operating at Warrington include Holzma beam saws with advanced offline optimisation software, Homag single and double-sided edgebanders, Homag BOF, Weeke and BAZ CNC machining centres, plus a Weeke BST500 throughfeed drilling machine.
Starbank also operates a Homag FR10 throughfeed profile sander for preparing core material prior to postforming, plus special grooving, edge profiling and polishing to a variety of panel products.
