Champion Timber has installed TradePro card technology at its branches to help non-incorporated small builder customers secure credit.

The New Malden-based company has signed up to TradePro, which has a capital base of £91m, to support builders experiencing difficulty securing finance due to a lack of shared risk information among financial institutions to support lending decisions.

Verifone swipe terminals have been installed at Champion’s eight branches and will give customers signed up to TradePro a pre-approved line of credit of either £3,500 or £7,500 per month. The service also guarantees Champion payment, removing the monthly headache and cost of managing customer accounts.

Meanwhile, the company reports it has been supplying decking and fencing for design consultancy The Plant Room, which provides gardens for clients such as BBC‘s “How to be a Gardener” and “Gardener’s World”.

Champion has supplied The Plant Room, which houses TV celebrity gardener Joe Swift, with bespoke timber items for more than three years.
