A 112% increase in hardwood moulding sales during the past nine months has prompted Smee Profiles, the manufacturing division of Smee Timber Ltd, to invest £200,000 in new machinery.
An additional Weinig moulder, re-saw and multiple rip saw have been installed to increase moulding capacity and reduce delivery times.
Machined sales director Mark Fleming said the company had changed tack in the market, moving its main focus from furniture to joinery and shopfitting.
The Winsford-based company specialises in supplying hardwood mouldings, veneer wrapped profiles and timber based components.
Mr Fleming said: “We have enjoyed considerable sales growth this year, particularly in the hardwood moulding market. It was essential for us to commit to this investment to ensure that we maintain sales growth, while continuing to provide a superior level of service and quality to our customers.”
