A new storyline on popular BBC Radio 4 programme The Archers reflects the growing trend for self-building in the UK using timber frame.

The plot involves farmer Neil Carter and his wife Susan planning to build their dream home using timber frame due to rising property prices in Ambridge, where The Archers is set.

The UK Timber Frame Association estimates that almost one in four of all new detached homes are self-built, with timber frame accounting for 90% of projects.
