Six Canadian timber companies are to benefit from a US agreement to cut duty on softwood lumber.
Tembec Inc, Abitibi-Consolidated Inc, Canfor Corp, Slocan Forest Products Ltd, West Fraser Timber Co and Weyerhaeuser Co will all gain from a ruling by a North American Free Trade Agreement panel that ordered the US to change the way it calculates the duty.
The decision lowers Tembec’s deposit on an anti-dumping levy by one third to 6.28%.
