Members of the Wessex Timber Trade Association have been urged to respond to a Timber Trade Federation (TTF) questionnaire seeking opinions about the work of the organisation and feedback about individual projects and services.

Speaking at the Wessex TTA dinner, TTF president Geoff Rhodes said the federation’s workload was heavy and resources limited, which was why choices needed to be made.

He said a new working party was being set up to look at the federation’s priorities for the next three years but added that members’ responses to the questionnaire were required to enable the TTF to shape its priorities and work.

The Wessex event was Mr Rhodes’ final area dinner as federation president and he outlined some of the activities the TTF has supported during his time in office. These included the wood. for good campaign, the Wood Awards and the Forest Education Initiative.

Mr Rhodes said the TTF was examining the introduction of a levy to promote timber, adding that the competition has not gone away.

The TTF has also consolidated relations with Whitehall and Westminster, he said, and would be represented on the proposed Central Point of Expertise in Timber which could be launched in July.
