Boise Building Products Ltd is celebrating the approval of proprietary joist caps in the Robust Details programme for Buildings Regulations’ amended Part E: Resistance to the Passage of Sound.
The Bicester-based company said the inclusion of joist caps in the Robust Details Handbook means its I-bloc cap product can be used to build joists into party walls, removing the need for propping or expensive hangars. The I-bloc is designed to push-fit onto the range of BCI Joists.
Karl Simpkins, Boise regional support manager, said building joists into walls gives builders greater tolerance for blockwork and saves the awkward fitting of parallel restraint straps.
