The lack of students studying forestry in universities and colleges is causing concern in British Columbia where a labour shortage is forecast.
BC forests minister Mike de Jong said the industry could face a potential crisis as there is no-one lined up to replace those due to retire.
The government has now organised a province-wide recruitment drive in a bid to attract new forestry students.
