Conservation groups are becoming increasingly worried about logging in Congo’s rainforest.
Groups say the government is looking to log more of the forest, a policy they say is encouraged by the World Bank in its loan conditions.
They have also expressed concern about the transparency of the bidding process for logging concessions, which they say opens the door for corruption.
Despite the country’s forest management plans, some companies are believed to be engaged in widespread illegal logging.
