Georgia-Pacific Corp has sold three of its hardwood lumber mills to Allegheny Wood Products Inc for an undisclosed sum.
The company said the sale is part of its strategy to concentrate on its wood and gypsum panels, softwood lumber and chemical businesses, and manufacturing differentiated building products.
The 250 jobs at the three mills are secure and Allegheny Wood Products said the acquisition will place it in a stronger market position.
The mills produce dimensional lumber including red oak, ash, maple, poplar and other varieties used in furniture, flooring and cabinet manufacturing.
