The third Forest Academy Finland forum opened in Helsinki on September 15.
The theme was “Wood-based Sustainable Development” and Per-Ove Engelbrecht, head of the forest-based industries unit at the EU Commission gave a key note speech on sustainable development and the EU forest-based industries.
Another key note speaker was Anatoly Petrov of the Russian Institute of Continuous Education in Forestry whose speech was entitled “The new forest law should promote wood supply and efficiency of its utilisation in Russia”.
After the opening session in Helsinki the forum convened to the Lahti region where participants visited wood energy and wood construction sites.
