The versatility of trussed rafters came into their own at a housing development in Meopham, Kent.
Three properties have been built with catslide roofs while one of the houses has been constructed with room in the roof attic trusses which provide the potential for extra rooms.
Trussed Rafter Association member Palgrave Brown worked with architect Harringtons and developer Orchid Way Properties to design and manufacture 70 trussed rafters for each dwelling.
The trussed rafters were produced with spans of 8-9m and 40 degrees pitch, in seven or eight separate profiles. Individual deliveries were made to the site for each home to enable the trussed rafters to be craned straight into position.
