Rumours that The Netherlands has delisted the Canadian Standards Association‘s (CSA) sustainable forest management certification programme have been scotched by the Dutch Timber Trade Association (VVNN).
VVNN issued a swift rebuttal after the Canadian Embassy in The Netherlands and TTJ asked whether the rumour was true.
An association spokesperson described the rumour as “nonsense”, saying interested parties, including the timber trade and government, are still working on draft guidance for sustainable forestry management standards and a final version is not expected to published until the end of the year.

The Netherlands currently uses the Keurhout criteria, originally drawn up by the now defunct Keurhout Foundation, for assessing certification standards.
