Wadkin UltraCare, the woodworking machine service specialist and moulder manufacturer, says it is on target to move into its new plant by the end of the year.

The new 50,000ft2 unit is on the Hilltop Industrial Park, Bardon Hill near Coalville and is currently being fitted out to Wadkin’s requirements.

“We’re aiming to be in by Christmas with transfer of production taking place on a gradual basis over six to eight weeks to ensure there’s no disruption for customers,” said sales and marketing director Nigel Smith at Woodmex.

He added that all 113 of Wadkin UltraCare’s employees have been asked to move with the company from its old site in Leicester and any that decide not to will be replaced.

Coinciding with the relocation, the company has officially unveiled a new operating structure. It is now working as three divisions; UltraCare, the machine service arm, Wadkin Toolroom Technology, which supplies cutter blocks, grinders, template makers and now also PCD/diamond and CNC tooling; and Wadkin Machines which makes and imports moulders and now also supplies SAOM CNC machining centres and Ryburn stair trenchers and block and wedge cutters.
