Beesley & Fildes Ltd, the Liverpool-based builders/timber merchant and importer, will move all its machining facilities onto one site following its acquisition of Colin Myers Timber Ltd.
Beesley & Fildes acquired Widnes-based Colin Myers, which has an annual turnover of £3.5m, for an undisclosed sum on October 4. It gives the group seven branches.
Beesley & Fildes sales director Jeff Stanton said the company would move its two existing sawmills to the Myers site, where there are also machining facilities, including a high speed moulding line. This will give the firm greater machining capacity.
The firm intends to produce a full stock range for its branches, including mouldings, as well as bespoke work.
Mr Stanton said: “It is a specialist timber branch and we saw the potential in that it’s a good, strong business. But we also had the idea of having all our machining facilities under one business.”
Further improvements are expected to be made, as only half of the five-acre Myers site is currently used. Colin Myers has retired but the name of the business is being retained.
Beesley & Fildes’ existing six branches are at Huyton, Liverpool, Prescot, Birkenhead, Chester and Warrington.
