A one-day seminar which aims to provide inspiration and information about timber in construction is planned by TRADA.

The event – In touch with timber – is aimed at architects and engineers and will take place at the Commonwealth Institute, London, on March 4. It is the result of a survey undertaken by TRADA of “thousands of architects and engineers” to gauge opinion about its website askTRADA, which provides information on timber specification, engineering and technology. “The overwhelming majority asked for inspiration in [timber construction] design and technique,” said TRADA.

During the first half of the seminar architect Peter Clegg of Feilden Clegg Bradley is due to speak on inspirational designs in timber and engineer Richard Harris of Buro Happold on building with the environment in mind.

In the afternoon delegates can choose to attend three of nine seminars. There are three themes – architecture, engineering and the environment – and there will be three presentations on each subject.
