The Nordic Timber Council (NTC) is widening its environmental message across Europe.
The Netherlands and Belgium are the latest areas of activity. The NTC has joined up with Centrum Hout from the Netherlands to target contractors and one-man businesses via a series of articles and meetings, while in Belgium it is working with the Belgian Wood Forum to communicate the environmental message through the press.
NTC managing director Jan Söderlind said: “Contractors and self-employed people are an important target group for increasing the use of wood in buildings and constructions. And sharing competence and know-how is crucial when it comes to influencing this group. We also see this as a great opportunity to cooperate more closely with one of our sister organisations in Europe.”
Centrum Hout has succeeded in getting television DIY celebrity Dennis Mulder involved in the campaign. Mr Mulder, who also writes a regular column in one of Holland’s biggest newspapers, will help reach both building professionals and consumers.
Meanwhile the NTC and the Belgian Timber Council are taking influential Belgian journalists to Scandinavia with the aim of improving their understanding of and interest for the environmental benefits from increased use of wood.
