Furniture fittings specialist Häfele UK Ltd is waiting to hear whether it has the go-ahead for a £8m development on land adjacent to its Swift Valley headquarters site in Rugby.
For the past decade the company has grown at an average 10% per year, and sales director Ray Fisher said: “That’s a lot of new business to acommodate – and accommodation is what we’re running out of.”
The company has recently started to rent a 10,000ft2 unit close to its headquarters and has moved the storage and logistics of extra large or long items into it.
But hopes are pinned on the local authority granting planning permission for a multi-functional 10,000m2 warehouse with underground car parking and “a lot of material goods automatic handling”.
Company chairman Mike Smith said: “The proposed new building is four storeys and 14m high. It will have office capacity and will handle many of the material needs of the company.”
Mr Smith said Häfele is due to hear just before Christmas whether or not its application has been successful and added: “If we get the go-ahead we will start site clearance in January.”
