Optima Homes, the modern methods of construction (MMC) building system created through a unique partnership between architectural practice Cartwright Pickard and timber frame company Pace Timber Systems, is to be developed.
The system was initially designed for terraced and semi-detached houses up to three storeys, but ongoing research and development will see it adapted to suit five-storey apartment buildings.
The system is available in three tailored packages. The basic allows clients to design their own scheme, the Select package consists of 15 Housing Corporation-approved off-the-shelf designs, and the Optimise option gives clients a bespoke Cartwright Pickard design service.
Details can be obtained on-line at a new website – www.optimahomes.co.uk. As well as providing full particulars of the system, the site has a password protected section enabling visitors to view and download design and technical information and access a library of Housing Corporation compliant house designs/plans.
Pace Timber Systems managing director Phil Key said: “The Optima Homes system has been developed to take off-site construction to a new level here in the UK, and in doing so help address the severe shortage of new homes that exists in this country. We hope this is reflected in the content of the website and the manner in which the system is presented.”
