The Port of Blyth has received a visit from its longest ever vessel, the MV cp Moon.
The 200m ship berthed in the port’s deepwater South Harbour terminal for five days. The majority of its cargo consisted of five and a half tonnes of plywood for International Plywood which has its northern office in Blyth port and imports plywood and other panel products for distribution throughout the north and Scotland.
The port’s commercial and operations director, Martin Lawlor, said the visit from such a large vessel reinforced the port’s role as an ideal deep sea gateway for the northern half of the UK.
The vessel, built in April this year, is owned by Chipolbok, a Chinese/Polish venture, and is operating as part of the regular Nepa Shipping service from the Far East.
