Unimerco‘s £8m purpose-built plant has been officially opened by former chairman of BAE Aerospace Sir Richard Evans.

Mr Evans, who described the Fradley facility as a “great success story”, was joined at the opening by guests from a variety of industries, including the timber, woodworking and furniture sectors.

The 3,250m2 office and production centre includes a £1m PVD tool coatings installation, a 40,000-litre capacity central cooling system and technology for manufacturing PCD and solid carbide tooling.

The building also has conference rooms, guest rooms for overnight accommodation and a staff restaurant, while a gym is planned for the future.
